Family waits for justice

For nearly three weeks, Bob and Frances Witherspoon have sat in the wooden chairs outside the courtrooms in the Iredell County Hall of Justice.

Now, they’re hoping the justice portion of that name rings true.

Sabrina,

In regards to your statemet to the press.

Tis better to be silent and be thought a fool, than to speak and remove all doubt!

The prosecution did an excellent job in proving the states case and tied it all together in their closing statement. All parties involved in this case from start to this day have performed their duties within the scope of the law and have not in any way, nor could they be allowed to go outside the lines of the law to bring false charges aginst Misty.

You on the other hand, have tried to manipulate the public with your letters to the editor, your manipulation of the media with those children, and then your outlandish statements on how the detectives treated Misty so unjustly for not believing her when the evidence showed differently. They did a fine job and should be commended.

My prayers are with Quinn's children, and only hope they can come out of this with some type of normalcy.

I do get that you loved your brother, we as a society just do not understand your actions.

It is in the juries hands now, and they will decide.

Sabrina,

Where should I start?!? Sometimes the best thing to do is keep your mouth quite than to open it up and say things you can't take back. Your brother would be very disappointed in how his family is acting during all of this. He was a very fair police officer, one that would talk to the biggest criminal on earth just to get his "true" side of the story. Just as the police have had to talk to Misty, the murderer, that is their job! They have to talk to the person that has committed a crime to do their investigation. Noone has made you, Misty or anyone else any promises during this whole trial! How you can talk down about the police department your brother was so committed to is beyond me!

The CPD has done so many things to help support those babies! The only ones left here on earth that are being hurt by all of this nonsense! YOU ARE NOT the only one who has seen those kids cry for their daddy. We have all seen it, the only difference is we are the only ones who actually care about the fact he won't be back. You claim you can't bury him, well you and the rest of the family had NO problem putting him in the ground, then turning your back on him!! You all buried him just to turn around and support the same person who put him there, MISTY. So NO we will NEVER understand what ya'll are doing!! Nor do we even care to hear WHY!! We just hope that those kids go to a good home! One outside of all the LIES!!

We have put Quinn to rest! Thanks to everyone who helped put his head stone on, because you all couldn't afford it due to supporting his murderer! So now we see who is really loyal to Quinn! I only hope that the jury puts her behind bars forever because if they don't those precious kids will be the next ones we bury!! She will kill them next! How you all can look back over the years and see how she has treated them kids versus how Quinn did and still say she deserves to have them is beyond me! If you can sleep with yourself just like your parents then that is fine. Just remember the rest of us go to sleep every night thinking of Quinn! NOT MISTY!!

May justice prevail! For Quinn's sake. We will love him forever he made a big difference in the life of many people. Just too bad he didn't do the same for his family!!!! Not that he didn't try ya'll just were to blind to see what ya'll had while it was hear!

One more thing, just know every day I hear of people Quinn put behind bars that want Misty to be put to death for what she did to him. That is a shame that even the criminal he arrested has more respect for him than you all sorry people he called family!!

The venom which oozes out of the previous comments are proof of the animosity displayed towards the family for their faith and their commitment to truth and justice. The fact that their sense of justice differs from your does not make them any better or worse than your sense of justice.

To be sure, it was clear to me as a spectator in the court room that the prosecution of this case was more concerned with the welfare of the Concord Police Department than it was with the welfare of Quinn's family. The Concord Police Department did not afford the Witherspoon the respect and courtesy of having a front row seat, but instead manipulated the atmosphere by making sure they were the front and center of the attention of the jury. The prosecutors made sure that the CPD was aware of what was coming up next, but never once approached the Witherspoon family.

In the end, we all lost a quality officer, neighbor, friend, and family member. Now the children have lost both parents, and the family grieves the loss of two children.

As for going outside the lines and scope of the law, I saw three officials from the MPD state emphatically that they did not believe Misty committed an intentional act. They were emphatic about that point. It was also clear to me that the MPD investigators were very inexperienced in handling a case such as this and should have called in SBI immediately. What department uses Nextel for dispatch purposes rather than a CAD system? Apparently MPD does since the MPD dispatcher utilized Nextel to contact the initial officer.

In the end the justice system administered it's form of justice, which you are well within your rights to believe is factual. However, we all know that sometimes the blind lady of justice isn't so blind after all and that people are wrongfully convicted every day in this country.

I hope this verdict brings you the much needed peace that you deserve and that God, Himself, will lay his healing hands upon you to move on and to know that all of God's children -- ALL -- merit the same love and respect; regardless of whether or not you agree with them.

The Witherspoons find their hope and strength in a God of justice and forgiveness whose ultimate judgement far exceeds our understanding of justice.

I pray for all parties involved in this tragedy. May God guide you and protect you each and every day.
