Closing arguments made, jury deliberates

Photo by Bruce Matlock / bmatlock@statesville.com

The title of a children’s book found lying on the floor formed the theme of the closing arguments for prosecutors in the first-degree murder trial of a Mooresville woman.

May God intervene in this matter and make sure the outcome is what is right and just and appropriate as only HE knows for certain what happened that day. And may we all respect that decision, no matter what it happens to be and trust that it is the right one.

Thats all I have.

I did not know Quinn personally, but I have a lot of friends in the CPD who cannot speak highly enough about him. I have been following this story closely and I have to say that justice will only be done when Misty is found guilty of her crime. This was indeed a premeditated murder, not a slip and fall or failed suicide attempt. She should pay for all her crimes and those innocent children should not be put in a situation where another "failed suicide attempt" could cost them their lives too.

I wished this would all hurry up and let Quinn rest...

Every time I come to this site I see the picture of Quinn with his dog at the top and I still find it hard to believe that he is dead. He was such a great guy who didn't deserved to die like that. Misty has made her bed and I hope she gets to lie in it in prison. She is a very good liar and has decieved many people but the devil will win out and take her for his own because she has opened up her heart and soul to him. If there were truely justice she would be the one who had died. I wish she had gone ahead and shot herself then everyone would be happy and he would be alive.

WOW, with all the hurt people out there just show the great person Quinn was. We all want this over so we can go on with our lives and be able to think of the good things Quinn do for all of us. This trail has brought out the bad things that Misty has done to all of us. And it is all BAD.

WE have seen friends turning on friends. We even have familys members turning on each other. All because of the actions of one woman. I hope someday she will see this.

I seen the Witherspoon family turn on th Concord police, To me that is like turning your back on your son. Sorry just the the way I see it. The men and women of the concord police department have done some good things for Quinn's children and to complain about the last bike ride because it did not go through Mooresville is just stupid. They have they're reason just let it be. They are doing something for the kids. Be thankful. Plus I think maybe they have turned they're back on Misty not Quinn's family or kids. I think we all can learn from this that when people try to help out, be thankful even if is not the same way you would of done it.

The church is about to split in half because of the this. The one I still can not get my hands around is why all this is in the church house. The house of God is a place to worship. I quess because Misty took all that money of the church and still has not said she was sorry of it. It would go along way if she would ask to be forgave for this. I quess asking forgiveness is amiting you did wrong. But please do not take it out on all the good people of the church, we did nothing wrong.

Every day as I go to work I pass behind the back of my wife car and I see the 459 she has on the back window. It makes me think of the good freind we had in Quinn. Man I miss that man. And I know we all miss him.

Again I just can not wait to this is over.

To B. Ferguson and K.Childers:
I too couldn't help but notice the absence of Bobby and Frances during the prosecution's closing arguments. Bobby has said that he just wants to know the truth but when the truth was being told, they chose to sit outside the courtroom even when they were allowed to be there (no longer sequestered as witnesses.) After listening to the trial every day for 3 weeks (except for 2 days) I now know the truth, as does all officers of Concord Police Department. CPD should be proud that they were there every day supporting our friend Quinn Witherspoon and standing up for him. We believe in truth and justice and hope both will prevail.

THANK YOU to the prosecution team for their presentation during closing arguments on Friday. They truly gave Quinn what he deserved, their very best effort. It was more powerful than any movie or courtroom drama I've ever seen. Anyone who in that courtroom who knew and loved Quinn were touched...
Our voices were acknowledged by Mr. Brown's factual presentation, where he looked Misty directly in her eyes as he mapped out her sins and confronted the reality of what she did on September 13th.
We were moved by Mr. Martin's bold re-enactment, where he demonstrated how all the evidence links together. At one time he shook Quinn's duty belt upside down violently to show the jury "This gun...will not...come out...of this holster!"
I will speak on behalf of officers who worked with Quinn by saying a huge THANK YOU to the prosecutors of Quinn's case. When we couldn't speak for Quinn and fought back tears, you shouted for us. Thank you for giving our friend all of your effort and energy throughout the trial. Quinn deserved every bit of it.

I was careful Annonymous and meant every word. I have faith that whatever the decision is it will be the right one and that God will see to it. He knows what happened and I have faith that He will see to it that the appropriate sentence is handed down.

I have said from the beginning that I don't know what happened, nobody does other than Misty and God, so I HAVE to trust that HE will see to it that justice is done, whatever that is.

And with that prayer I am leaving this forum. Since voicing my opinion here I have been insulted, accused of lying, stealing, degrading our church, wishing my own husband dead, and called every name in the book, some from so-called friends of mine and been threatened with physical harm.

All because I said I didn't know what happened to Quinn and that only Misty and God knew and I wasn't willing to pass judgement on her. I care about Quinn's family, and I cared about the people of Whitman Park.

I have no regrets about what I said and how I feel, nor do I regret leaving Whitman Park. We should have done it long ago. I stayed because I had hope that this could all be worked out but that church's division over this matter is as ugly as most of the posts here. There's no room for anything else there.

I am very happy in my new church and its peaceful and a place where worshipping God is the only agenda. I wish those that stayed at WP the best and that they all find some peace and forgiveness in their lives.

I just pray this will be over soon and people can get on with their lives. I'm not the enemy. I haven't committed any crime, yet I am being crucified as if I did.

I don't think I have treated anyone here with any disrespect and if I did I apologize.

I will continue to pray for the family and the kids but sure do know why all of you wanted to stay annonymous now.

Bonnie, we are all glad you are leaving the forum. You need to leave God out of this all together. Yeah, he is the only one that will have the final say, but that is not until Misty's judgement day. He has NOTHING to do with what she done to Quinn and NOTHING to do with what is going to happen to her.

You have been accused of a lot on here from what I have read. The only reason I am taking my time to type this is because I know you will read this and more than likely you will respond. You just really need to sit back and realize what you have said on here makes no sense to any of us. So maybe you should think before you speak or in this case type.

The only thing that God needs to bless right now are those precious Children! The ones that matter right now. Since Quinn is gone nothing else matters, but the well being of those kids. That is all he would want. He was a wonderful father and I'm sure he continues to be in heaven! He is their gaurdian angel now. They will be taken care of and know the truth one day.

Bonnie, Are you that ignorant, or did someone recently smack you in the head with a boat oar. You brought on all the remarks and now you are trying to play the pity me act. If you are spout your opinion, we will and have given you ours. On July 14,2007 at 12:52pm you typed "thats all I have". I guess you are not a person of your word.

Even though Misty needs to pay for what she has done here on this earth, Any true beleiver knows that God does not want anyone to burn in hell. Pray for everyone, because everyone needs it. But I cant help but notice Bonnie just couldnt leave the forum even though she said she was. Please pray for her to. She is a little too wrapped up in this and enjoyed it a little too much. Like I said before, make a statement or two and then move on.
